Today, the Arab Republic of Egypt celebrated the selection and honoring of Ambassador Dr. Salah Al-Din Abu Bakr Amer, President of the Al-Nawras Organization for Democracy and Development, as one of the best figures in humanitarian work in the Arab world for the year 2022. The event was graced by the presence of the Head of Humanitarian Affairs at the League of Arab States, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed, Minister of State in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation in Bahrain, alongside high-ranking representatives from 15 Arab countries, including prominent figures in humanitarian work, diplomats, and media personalities. The event was held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

In his speech during the ceremony, Dr. Salah emphasized the importance of collaboration, resource investment, and coordination among humanitarian partners in the Arab world to create substantial and positive societal change that fosters effective social leadership and sustainable development.

He stressed the necessity of greater openness to develop voluntary and humanitarian work in conflict, displacement, and war-affected areas, positioning voluntary action as a key gateway to stability, development, and peacebuilding.

Dr. Salah called on business leaders and humanitarian figures to support Sudan during its current challenges, addressing all issues where voluntary action can make a meaningful contribution. He also urged relevant entities to facilitate the work of national organizations in cooperating and coordinating with the Arab region to execute joint projects aimed at bridging developmental gaps.

On a related note, Al-Nawras Organization signed several agreements in the fields of peacebuilding, care for people with special needs, and projects to rehabilitate displaced persons and refugees with various organizations. Additionally, a strategic project was announced, which is a pioneering initiative to establish an Arab platform for voluntary work, to be permanently based in Sudan. The platform’s activities and leadership meetings will be held annually, with the project set to launch at the beginning of 2023.
